I actually thought it was done very well, and I actually liked Danny Elfmans score. His music tends to sound like everything he does.
Johny Depp did a good job, and Charely Buckets was pretty cool too. although I thought the Oomppa Loompa's which was really, just one Oooompa Looompa was just over the top. I prefer the original songs then these over the top musicial numbers. I also thought the film seemed a little anti-climatic.
But I still feel it was a interesting remake. although i thought the title was a little misleading. I thought this movie was supposed to take off when charely got the factory. In the age of remakes i was kind of hoping for a continuation and not another remake.
My wife on the other hand Loved the movie and made her feel like a kid again.
