Mr Vampire Review

Man who Fell to earth Review

This makes the second time seeing this movie. the first time I must have been thirteen or something. I found David Bowies performance very convincing as person from another world. Being a fan I wanted to enjoy this movie again. And It wasn't that hard since they don't make movies like this anymore. Since I've made that complaint before, I won't go any further.
The subject matter of Alien life form convincing people to help him take over multinational corporations was very bold for a film on such a small budget. What helped me in the suspension of disbelief was a couple of the gadgets I saw, that I thought was pretty cleaver. Like the Self developing camera or the soft sheet of transparent plastic to be used for remote viewing. I guess I'm sucker for cleaver '70's Sci Fi gimics.

I would also like add his character Tom Newton's use of Multiple Tv Sets, which I would like to point out, that some people when seeing my exhibit would make the comparison to my work With those scenes in the movie.
There really is no comparrison. I actually make my images, where as the movie, They just stacked several tv's together and tuned them to different channels. or they played tapes of films or stock footage. But still the use was still effective in creating a sureal experience.
Despite some unbelievable things in The Man who Fell to Earth. I found this to be a refreshing experience to the drivel I have experienced these past 10 years.
That is the key word here, Refreshing. Refreshing to the senses and Refreshing in that it doesn't insult my intelligence.

Easter Sucks

I hope Mel Gibson had a better Easter than I did. YAWN!!!!!!
I hate holidays. theres nothing on tv and theres nowhere to go, and most of the children I know are too big for easter Egg hunts. But alas I did get some deviled Eggs.

Netflix I still think Sucks.
But they have a pretty good selection. Just like video stores used to back in the early 90's, before Blockbuster Usurped the Entire market. I hate Blockbuster with a passion, and appreciate any chance to get back at them whenever I can.
Mr Vampire is by all means one of the Cheesiest Movies I have ever seen in a long long time, and It warms my heart just saying so. God You really gotta search High and low to find something to appreciate on this level. Mr Vampire is a comedy horror flick that never fails to be the contributing factor of dropping IQ points in the viewer, and yet in comparison to a another Movie. The Film's only ambition is to entertain the viewer, where others seemed to talk down to you, relying heavily on pop culture references to maintain Hipness.
what I loved about Mr Vampire. The dub in English is loosely based on the actual diologue, where as the sub titles are more accurate. I guess someone was really having fun in the Voice over Booth
Please Watch this movie if you can get it from Netflix.
